Being green is a commonly used term, but sometimes without proper definition of what it implies. Our society is continuously looking towards products and practices that are more environmentally friendly. And rightfully so!  That is why we would like to explain what we mean when we say, “green shelving.”

Solar powered factory

To reduce our dependency on Eskom, we have installed more than 1680 panels on our roofs. Which produce between 2.8 – 5 megawatt of green power per day. Enough to fuel our machines and feed the excess back into the grid. Since start-up we have produced 1.22 GWh of electricity saving the total of 478 181.3 kg of Co2 emissions. This is the equivalent of 14 272 trees planted.

Responsibly sourced pine

We don’t just use any wood for our products. We source pine from across South Africa and its neighboring countries. Only timber from sustainably managed plantations is used in our production processes.

Upcycling and recycling

At CTS we dont waste. B grade machined material gets repurposed into other products. Off cuts get chipped, mixed with sawdust and shavings, compressed and dispatched to chicken and horse farmers. After which it gets converted into organic compost.

All paper, cardboard, glass and steel waste get collected and delivered to waste recyclers on a weekly basis.

Zero Carbon footprint

CTS is committed to have a zero-carbon footprint by 2023. We are capturing all the relevant data monthly to be ready for our first independent audit during the first quarter of 2023.

CTS is committed to not only becoming green, but also to continue creating environmentally-friendly products and processes.

Shouldn’t your next shelving project be a green one?
